5 Top Tips to Make Your Wedding the Best Day Ever!

Have the wedding day you want - Over the past few years I have definitely noticed a huge shift in weddings. Gone are the days where you have a set etiquette to be followed. Venues are changing, there are so many barns, estates and restaurants opening their doors to weddings and creating a completely different vibe to the traditional hotel. Elopements are another growth area where the couple, with just their closest, head off and get married without all the associated fuss and expense. Whatever your vision is for your wedding day then go for it! This also applies to everything associated with your day, your outfit, hair, makeup, number in bridal party, no speeches etc etc the list goes on. Be you, it’s your day!

Time - I find time is such a key factor on your wedding day. The most chilled days are the ones where the couple have plenty of time to have the photographs they expect and to be able to enjoy their drinks reception with their guests. Not planning your timings right could leave your day feeling very rushed. If you have a long journey or are having your wedding in the months with shorter daylight then it is recommended you go for an early ceremony. Your photographer is well used to dealing with timelines for your day so if in any doubt ask them their advice. My personal opinion is to always go for an earlier ceremony to make the most of your day. Follow the guidance of your photographer, they spend the whole day with you and genuinely have your best interests at heart!

Seek An Amazing Day - seek a perfect happy day where you are celebrating with your nearest and dearest. Generally I find couples who are hung on perfection don’t relax because they are too busy making sure every tiny detail is going plan. You want happy memories of an amazing day, not memories of how annoyed you were over a perceived vision. As Lisa Devlin from Photography Farm recently quoted, “ Weddings are not perfect, there are too many logistics involved and no dress rehearsal”. If you are getting worked up over details everyone around you will be on edge and this leads on to your mood…

Your Mood - believe it or not but your whole day and everyone else’s day is determined by your mood. If you are unhappy, everyone else feels it, you create the energy and everyone follows. So laugh, cry happy tears and create amazing memories for you and your guests. They will remember and be talking about the vibe of the day much more than a detail gone wrong!

Remember why you are getting married - don’t get caught up in the whole show, you do not need to compete with anyone. I find by being true to yourself and creating your own day makes your wedding personal and unique. Celebrating your union surrounded by your loved ones is what it is all about.
