Dublin Wedding, Clontarf Hotel // Donna & Paul
Donna and Paul had absolute nerves of steel and with days to spare made all their final arrangements. I myself was booked, cancelled and then re-booked to cover their wedding but judging by their smiles on the day you’d think they’d had an easy ride on the run up! Originally their wedding was to be held at Farnham Estate but with restrictions and closures they moved their wedding to Clontarf Castle in Dublin.
Although the morning started off foggy we were blessed with a beautiful winters afternoon in Dublin. For photographs we headed to a wooden bridge not far from the castle. I had never been there before but after speaking to a few Dublin photographers this spot sounded ideal. After days of rain I think half of Dublin were also enjoying the mild weather with a stroll on this bridge and a drive out to the strand! Donna’s sister-in-law jumped into action and managed to halt traffic to enable us to get a few photographs and in-between cars, people, dogs and cyclists I managed to snatch photographs. It’s funny because when you look at their images you’d never believe the amount of people around us. All turned out great and I absolutely love their photographs, I’m a big one about memories and I know it will be something to laugh at with every anniversary. Congratulations, I am so pleased you got me back on board for your wedding x
This is what Donna and Paul had to say about their day:
“So our wedding in 2020 wasn’t exactly what we imagined or planned. We had originally booked the Farnham estate for July 24th with 250 guests. When Covid arrived in March I secured a November back up date. In April we postponed from July to November. I couldn’t take the uncertainty anymore! As Covid cases increased in September/October everyone kept telling us we were mad to consider a November wedding.
Cavan/ Monaghan/ Donegal went into the first lockdown which eliminated our dream venue. So within 2 weeks we replanned and rescheduled our wedding still uncertain of numbers. As luck would have it on the 20th of October the government announced weddings of 25 could happen until the end of the year. We were ecstatic to have certainty finally!! We replanned the wedding for Clontarf Castle as our original venue had closed. They were so accommodating and helpful so we went full steam ahead for Nov 7th with our nearest friends and family and had the best day ever!! Believe it or not I wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding day and am so grateful to have been a 2020 war bride and a story for the grandkids in years to come.”
